“Beyond the clouds, in the universe, is the cosmogony, there is Mamancana Nature Reserve”…
MAMANCANA is a story to be discovered, a memory of conquerors, adventurers, stories, dreams and findings. It is a journey to the past, to other times, to Tayrona´s times. MAMANCANA is an area full of memories, of inerasable traces, of invisible passers-by and shooting stars with terraces and stone walls built by the dreams of climbers. It is a unique Private Nature Reserve in Colombia that has protected the environment for more than 23 years, with 600 acres of lush spiny tropical dry forest, of which there is only one percent of its type on earth. This is a concert of birds that fly to the top of the Ebony, Caracolí, Ceiba, Guamacho, and Bonga trees… Mamancana is a magnificent plant and animal treasure, a genetic connection between man and nature – a place for the lovers of life..
It is the natural heritage of all of us. A Biosphere reserve and life reserve, where the tissue of water flows from the bottom of the ground with salt eyes hiding a past recorded in pots and traces of others; mountains with tracks of the sun and stone. Mythical lands with fauna and floral gold of wild and endemic species, green fields with dry times wanting to tell stories of the indigenous settlements that existed. Guardians of the rocks and streams, of the sun and moon, of stars and mountains; with its magical vegetation that rises to 740 meters above sea level. The walker leaves their footprints on the red earth, the Mother Earth’s blood that stands before the altar of the Half Moon pierces the night sky with arrows of light.
There are signs of many things from the past, of what the records tell us existed on the high plateaus, of what historians try to tell us, of what anthropologists and archaeologists discovered in their footsteps, paths and nature trails; of what biologists and scientists tell us about the evolution of the universe through the insects. And through the information and communication technologies, we can truthfully encourage and teach environmental education. MAMANCANA is a story of undeniable ancestors, of those mythology kings and their meaningful names.
Its ethnic groups, the Arhuacos, Ikas, Koguis and Kankuamos have, as their home and sacred place, the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, the heart of the world and bond with Mother Earth, where the ecological and spiritual sense are vitally important, maybe, to understand why La Sierra is a special place and linked to our creation and to history by the ethnic groups that live there; through its veins runs the sacred plant residue that at one moment sends them on a mystical journey to their gods.
At the foot of this mountain is the sacred land, MAMANCANA – today representing the past, present and future in a biodiverse Private Nature Reserve, with multifunctional spaces and its own cultural identity for you to fall in love of nature. Participating in nature tourism, ecotourism and adventure tourism are the lungs of a lifestyle with futuristic oxygen. A wildlife, cosmology, ecological, and luxurious mix.
